All you ever seem to hear today is the bad things about our military. Yes we are fighting in Iraq, but soldiers are doing so many other great things around the world. The children here in Kosovo look up to us, we represent America. Something as simple as a soldier sitting down or playing with a child, or giving them a friendly hand shake or a hug can make such an impact on his or her future. I think this photo has a lot of meaning in it.

This is a really nice shot, really showing how something simple can say so much. I really like the angle, and I think b/w was a very good choice for this. Wonderful photo :)

I really love how this photo isn't of the people's faces. But rather it leaves an impression. One soldier and two kids sitting on a wall with there feet hanging over. What they are doing or saying, who knows. What their expressions are doesn't matter. It still has a great impact.

that is exactly what I saw in this photo.... I wanted people to stop and think.....Thank you so much for the great comment!

Yeah, one thing I thought of was just how familiar the whole aspect of sitting on a wall talking to people is. It brings a kind of... sweetness to it. Thoughts of laughter not of anger. Sort of like when someone says how they love late night conversations - they don't have to explain what they love about them because you have your own memories of late night conversations at what you love about them and they generally are the same sorts of things. And people sitting on a wall stirs up that same sort of emotion behind it. Good times. That's why it doesn't need faces or expressions to stir up that sentament within you, it's already there.

I love this photo, it's so deep in so many levels, and as a person from Kosovo (myself), the fact it's from there makes it a little more special ;)

Thank you very much. I'm happy to know you appreciate what we are doing here. When I set out to take this picture; I wanted to show the emotions, and connection between the children and the soldiers here, but in away most people would'nt see it.

You asked where I'm at in Kosovo. Our Base is near Urosevac in East Kosovo.
